A shout out to our friends at the Savannah Bee Company for their generous donation of assorted lip balms! Child Life Specialists at Emory Proton and Children’s Hospitals of Atlanta were excited to receive the delivery of Savannah Bee Lip Balm. Eager to introduce the new scents of Key Lime, Tupelo Honey, Salted Caramel, Honey Almond, Wild Blackberry, Mint Julep, and our in-house favorite Peach to children the following days. There will soon bee some happy kiddos!
“Lip balm is an item that is requested often by child life specialists and nurses from EPCF. Beyond the intended use there is another application that makes a major impact on seriously ill children in treatment. Numerous caretakers utilize the lip balm in a game prior to a procedure where anesthesia will be used. The child selects their flavor of choice, which is then used to line the gas mask, so that the child smells of peaches instead of nitrous. It turns a potential frightening and tense moment into one of play and more importantly distraction, while alleviating anxiety.”
